Wrongly Accused of an Affair

Dear Sister,

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12)...you have been slandered by the father of lies (John 8:44) and accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10). He is strong, and he is cunning, but the weapons we use in Christ are greater (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). You are correct in saying seeds of doubt have been planted in people's minds. People are quick to believe evil, especially of strong Christians. Somehow it makes them feel better about themselves to tear others down. It won't be easy, but there are some things you can do.

Keep the faith. God can vindicate you (Psalm 26:1; Psalm 35:24, Psalm 43:1; Psalm 135:14; Isaiah 50:8; Lamentations 3:58-60) and raise you up again (Psalm 30:1; Psalm 40:2).

You must be patient, and allow your gentle spirit, goodness, and kindness to prove your accuser wrong (Philippians 4:4-6).

Pray for this one who has spoken against you. (Luke 6:26-28) Ask God to bless her, revealing His love to her. Treat her kindly. Ask God to give you opportunity to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:20 – 21).

Pray for Truth to be revealed. (Psalm 31:4-6; Psalm 40:11; Psalm 45:4 John 14:6 )

Seek a godly person to go with you to talk to this person. (Matthew 18:15-17) This passage in Matthew states you should just go yourself.

Pray for opportunity and a prepared heart for both of you. Let the Holy Spirit lead in this.

Memorize Scripture. Since this is ultimately a spiritual battle you must arm yourself with the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). I’ve included quite a few “blades” here for you to use. I’d also encourage you to read through Psalms noticing how many references there are to “my enemies”. Think of your “enemies” as being Satan and his demons and claim those verses. You can find more “enemy” verses in my article “Dealing with Depression: Encouragement from Psalms.”

Know that Jesus truly feels your pain and is in it with you. (Isaiah 53:3-5)

I am praying for your victory, and that your joy will soon be restored. (Psalm 51:12)

Please keep us updated.

With you in Him,
Drewe Llyn
