Help I'm Drowning

Dear Drowning,

We at Girlfriends in Christ are thankful and honored you stopped by to share your heart and request prayer. Most definitely we will lift you up to the Father.

My first prayer is that you will find forgiveness from God, your family, and yourself. Our society is a fertile breeding ground for sexual sin, and Satan would have you believe you are trapped with no way out. Don’t believe him. He’s a liar! John 8:44 Our Lord, who has overcome the world John 16:33, promised, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”1 John 1:9 Claim that promise. 2 Corinthians 1:20 Not only will you find forgiveness and victory, you will find strength to cope with your illnesses and the other trials you find yourself in. However, though God offers forgiveness, Satan is still close by hoping to drag you down again. Be on your guard. 1 Peter 5:8 Let me encourage you to take advantage of the resources Tracie listed for you, and find a friend who will hold you accountable for your thoughts and actions.

You may consider taking a break from ministry for now. I’m not saying God can’t or won’t use a “broken vessel”, on the contrary, from Moses to David to Peter God has been using those who failed miserably. God is looking for a broken and contrite heart.Psalm 51:17 And He is more than able to redeem this situation. (Claim Isaiah 43:1-3 substituting your name for “Jacob” or “Israel”. See also Exodus 15:13, Job 19:25, Psalm 34:22, Isaiah 44:21-23, and Titus 2:14 ) But you and your family need time to concentrate on each other and heal. We will trust God to supply all your needs one need at a time. Philippians 4:19 Be patient. Be still and know God is God. Psalm 46:10

Let’s pray.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for this minister who has courage to say, “I have a problem. Pray for me and my family.” Grow that courage as he faces many struggles and issues on his way to wholeness. Lord, I pray this brother will find forgiveness. You have promised forgiveness to those who ask, and I know he has asked. Enable him to forgive himself. Enable his family to forgive also, covering the offense with love.Take this broken family, Lord, and glue it back together with Your grace. Satan has stolen some precious things from them, and we call on You as Redeemer to reclaim and full restore all things. Please provide their every need according to Your riches. Lead them to a church home where they will be loved and ministered to financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Provide educationally for the children. You know exactly what they need and we trust You to lead them to it. Give the entire family courage and strength to stand strong when they may feel like giving up, knowing You are more than able to take what Satan meant for evil and turn it into something good. Genesis 50:20 We don’t know how, we just know that with You all things are possible. Matthew 19:26 As he and his family walk through this storm, assure them of Your ever abiding presence and love. May they experience Your mercy and grace in ways they never thought possible so that when the waves calm down they will have made it through victoriously. I ask you to send someone to walk along side this man, holding him accountable in love for the issues he is facing. Give power and victory over Satan’s plots and schemes. 1 John 4:4 I ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ.
Amen
